Cultural Ambassador

The Cultural Ambassadors is a 9-month community project designed to support newcomers settling in the UK, particularly in Greater Manchester. Moving to a new country can be exciting, but it also comes with challenges — from understanding everyday systems to coping with the rising cost of living, cultural differences, and isolation. This project creates safe, welcoming spaces where people can share their experiences, learn from one another, and access practical information to help them feel more confident and settled.

Running from September 2025, the project brings newcomers together through in-person meetups and online sessions to talk openly about life in the UK and what to expect, where to find support, and how to navigate daily challenges. Participants work alongside volunteers and a project manager to co-create a community guidebook and website filled with real experiences, useful tips, and trusted advice for future arrivals.

The project benefits newcomers living in Oldham, Rochdale, and Ashton, especially those who have recently arrived through work sponsorship or other migration routes. By sharing knowledge, building community connections, and empowering participants to become cultural ambassadors, the project helps reduce isolation, ease financial pressures, and support smoother integration into UK life.
